Before applying for a commission, Please read before purchasing pre-made fursuits and participating in the event. When applying for a commission, purchasing a pre-made fursuit, or participating in an event, you agree to all of the following.
Section: Right of Refusal and Termination of Service
The Studio reserves the right to refuse or terminate service at its sole discretion under the following circumstances:
Intellectual Property Infringement: Any request involving copyrighted characters, designs not owned by the applicant, or stolen/plagiarized artwork.
Minors (Age under 18): Applications from minors without verifiable parental or legal guardian consent will be rejected (excluding designated free events).
Behavioral Conduct: Any individual who is rude, threatening, or makes unreasonable demands.
Style Mismatch: Requests to replicate the specific artistic style of other makers.
Technical Feasibility: Requests judged to be excessively complex or outside the Studio’s artistic scope/style.
Character and Conduct (Controversy): Individuals involved in significant public controversies or problematic conduct, whether within or outside the furry fandom.
Logistical Constraints: Destinations where shipping is impossible due to force majeure, including natural disasters or epidemics.
Political Use: Any applicant who is a political figure or intends to use the product for political purposes or propaganda.
Breach of Terms and Refund Policy: In the event of a violation of the above terms during the service period, the Studio may terminate the project immediately without prior notice. In such cases, a refund will be issued for the remaining balance, excluding the costs of materials already purchased and labor costs according to the current progress of production. Furthermore, the Studio may permanently ban the individual from all future services provided by "Shadowy fursuit studio."
Section: Payment and Refund Policy
Payment Methods & Installments: Payments are accepted via Bank Transfer and PayPal. Installment payment plans are available; please refer to the "Commission Guide" page for specific installment schedules and details.
Refund Schedule: Refund amounts are determined based on the stage of production and material procurement as follows:
Before Material Procurement & Production Start: 100% Refund.
Material Procurement Started up to 20% Progress: 70% Refund (excluding costs already incurred for materials and labor).
20% to 40% Progress: 50% Refund (excluding costs already incurred for materials and labor).
40% to 70% Progress: 30% Refund (excluding costs already incurred for materials and labor).
Over 70% Progress: No refund available.
Disposal of Canceled Projects: Any fursuit for which the order is canceled or refunded during the production stage will be disposed of or reclaimed by the Studio.
No Cancellation for Custom-Made Goods: Pursuant to relevant consumer protection laws (including but not limited to EU Consumer Rights Directive Art. 16(c) and similar international standards), the right of withdrawal/cancellation for "simple change of mind" is restricted once production begins, as these are individually customized goods manufactured to the consumer's specific specifications.
Completion of Payment: For installment plans, the fursuit will only be shipped upon receipt of the final full payment.
International Fabric Sourcing: If specific fabrics must be ordered from overseas (based on the Studio's location), the Studio will consult the applicant. The applicant may choose to pay the additional cost for the fabric or cancel the order at that stage.
Unavailability of Materials: In the event that required fabrics cannot be sourced, the application will be canceled, and a refund will be issued excluding any travel or administrative costs already incurred for the sourcing process.
Section: Premade Fursuit Terms
Commercial and Personal Use (Merchandising): Upon receipt and full payment of the premade fursuit, the owner is granted the right to create, distribute, and sell derivative merchandise (e.g., physical goods, art, or digital content) featuring the character for personal collection, gifting, or commercial sale.
After-Sales Service (A/S): The After-Sales Service policy for premade suits is identical to that of custom commissions and applies exclusively to the original purchaser.
Ownership and Copyright: All copyrights and intellectual property rights to the premade fursuit and its character design remain exclusively with the Studio until the item is officially received and the transaction is completed by the purchaser.
Section: International Shipping and Duties
Shipping Costs: Shipping fees are not included in the base production cost and are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. Due to the significant size and weight of a fursuit, shipping rates vary greatly depending on the destination.
Pre-consultation Required: The purchaser must consult with the Studio regarding shipping options and estimated costs prior to the finalization of the shipment.
Billing: Once the project is complete and the final package dimensions/weight are confirmed, a separate invoice for shipping fees will be issued.
Customs, Duties, and Taxes: The purchaser is exclusively responsible for all import duties, customs fees, taxes, and any brokerage charges imposed by the destination country.
Service Delays (Force Majeure): If the destination country becomes unreachable or shipping services are suspended due to unforeseeable events (e.g., natural disasters, epidemics, or international conflicts) after the completion of the project, the shipment may be delayed or postponed indefinitely. In such cases, the Studio will store the item until shipping becomes feasible again, but is not liable for delays caused by these external factors.
Section: After-Sales Service (A/S)
Warranty Period: The free repair warranty is valid for one (1) year from the date of receipt. After this period, all repairs will be subject to a fee.
Repair Request Procedure: In the event of an issue, please contact the Studio via X (formerly Twitter) DM with the following information: the specific part requiring repair, a detailed description of the issue, and clear photographs. An instruction for the next steps will be provided upon review.
User Negligence: Repairs for damage or defects caused by user negligence, improper handling, or lack of care will be subject to a fee regardless of the warranty period.
Unauthorized Repairs and Modifications: If the fursuit is repaired by another maker, or if the user performs unauthorized repairs or modifications, the free warranty for that specific part and any related defects may be voided at the Studio's discretion.
Shipping Costs for Repairs: The purchaser is responsible for all round-trip shipping costs (to and from the Studio) incurred for any repair services.
Exclusions: Repairs are not available for fursuits received through free giveaway events or for "head-base only" commissions.
Service Schedule: Repairs may be delayed or postponed depending on the Studio’s current production schedule. We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding potential lead times.
Section: Miscellaneous Provisions
Material Allergies and Liability:
Materials Used: Fursuits are constructed using various materials, including but not limited to: Plastics, Faux Fur (Synthetic fibers), Upholstery Foam, EVA Foam, Mesh fabric, Hot Glue (Adhesives), Polar Fleece, Air Mesh, Polyester Fiberfill (Cloud stuffing), Threads, and various textiles.
Allergy Notice: If you have a known allergy to any of the aforementioned materials, please refrain from applying. Although the Studio's environment is pet-free, complete absence of allergens cannot be guaranteed.
Limitation of Liability: By commissioning or purchasing a premade fursuit, the purchaser acknowledges that the Studio has provided a comprehensive list of materials. The Studio shall not be held liable for any allergic reactions or health issues arising from the purchaser's specific constitution or sensitivities, absent any intent or gross negligence on the part of the Studio.
Social Media and Documentation: Photographs and videos of the production process and the completed project will be posted on social media platforms, communities, and other public forums.
Natural Degradation (Material Aging): The polyurethane foam (sponge) used in the fursuit structure is subject to natural discoloration (yellowing) over time. This is a natural chemical property of the material and does not affect the structural integrity or performance. Consequently, refunds or A/S requests based on natural material discoloration will not be accepted.
Prohibition of Reproduction: Any unauthorized reproduction or duplication of the "Head Base," including but not limited to the creation of molds for casting or 3D scanning for mass production, is strictly prohibited.
Portfolio and Promotion: Photographs and media of the completed fursuit may be used as portfolio pieces for the Studio's promotional purposes, including advertisements and marketing materials.
